Our Teachers

Tina Moen Roney began teaching Montessori in 1975. She founded San Juan Montessori in Anacortes in 1983 and has served as the lead teacher and directress for over 36 years. She is certified by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). 

For decades Ms. Tina has built a loving community at San Juan Montessori for the children, their families, and all of Anacortes. 

2023- 2024

Nicole Jordan Hetterle holds a BS in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from Washington State University and a Montessori Early Childhood Diploma from The North American Montessori Center (NAMC). Before becoming a Montessori guide, she served as a Teacher's Assistant at San Juan Montessori under the mentorship of Ms. Tina. Her love of Montessori began at SJM and returning back brings her full-circle to the place where her love of education began.  Ms. Nicole has over 14 years of  combined experience working with children as a public school substitute teacher, nanny, and has extensive experience in the Montessori classroom. 

2024-2025

We are excited to welcome back Ms. Jeni Barcott. Ms. Jeni served as the lead teacher previously from 2017-2019.  Jeni holds a bachelor's degree and her early childhood teaching credential from MEIPN. We are excited for Ms. Jeni to return!  

Our Teacher's Assistants have experience working with children and receive training in the Montessori philosophy. They generously use their time and talents to serve our children and families.  

This will be Ms. Trish's 5th  year with SJM and she has many years of experience working with children.
